Self-hug
Place both hands gently on your upper body - one on your heart, one on your stomach, or cross your arms and place your hands on your shoulders. Breathe deeply into your stomach. Feel warmth. Stay like this for 60-120 seconds.
The self-hug activates the parasympathetic nervous system through skin contact and releases oxytocin - the bonding hormone. It signals to your system: "You are safe, you are held." This is the prerequisite for any form of pleasure. A body in an alarm state cannot develop libido.
- 1Sit or lie down comfortably with both feet or back supported
- 2Place one hand on your heart, one on your stomach
- 3Breathe in deeply three times and exhale slowly - your stomach rises and falls
- 4Say internally, "I am here. I am safe. I am enough."
- 5Stay another 30 seconds – no task, no goal
